How To OrderEvery AH8 guitar is handmade to order, so ordering one is much like ordering any non-stock Waghorn custom guitar. A deposit of 25% is payable in advance, this secures your place in our waiting list. The remaining balance is payable in full (plus shipping and insurance costs if applicable) upon completion of the guitar. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer or by Credit/Debit Card. Waghorn Guitars has collaborated with Jazz/Fusion guitarist Alex Hutchings to produce the AH Series six and eight-string guitars. The AH8 is a unique instrument that combines the geometry, hardware and aesthetics to suit Alex's uncompromising playing style and sonic requirements.
The "Half-through-body" neck construction is designed to allow the unrivalled upper fret access of a neck-through guitar and yet reduce weight and retain as much tonal character from the Swamp Ash body wood as possible. DiMarzio PAF®8 pickups provide a lower output and a warmer sound than the majority of 8 string pickups on the market. A Kahler 8 string tremolo and Schaller M6 locking machineheads anchor Rotosound R8 strings which work with the 25.5" scale provide light feel that Alex prefers.
The AH8 model is available to buy with two different scale and bridge options. The 25.5" and 27" scale-lengths are equiped with either a Kahler 2328 tremolo (AH8-KT) or ETS fixed bridge (AH8-FB). In addition to this some different wood options are also available, as seen on the AH6. Each AH8 is hand-made to order on a first-come-first-serve basis.
